Collecting for the Nation - The Australiana Fund
Due to be launched in September 2017 this handsome, fully colour-illustrated publication will be a guide to the artworks in The Australiana Fund Collection, their provenance, their maker’s significance to the cultural development of our Nation and, their part in presenting Australia’s great tradition of excellence in design and craftsmanship within these heritage establishments. The architectural development of each house will be explored along with the Heads of State and historical figures who have lived in or visited them. Essays focusing on specific media or key objects will be incorporated, giving an insight into the Fund’s desire to acquire and preserve the best examples while remaining mindful of the need to provide objects that can be used daily in these working homes.
As an independent fundraising organisation The Australiana Fund acquires and maintains the Collection without financial assistance from the Government. We rely on the generosity of our members and our many supporters, who recognise the value of preserving these artworks into the future and the necessity of ensuring that Australian design and craftsmanship is ‘on show’ to visiting foreign dignitaries and official guests.
I encourage you to support this project by purchasing this wonderful book which will remain a monument to The Australiana Fund, for many years to come, and a way of sharing the Collection with the rest of the world.
Thank you for your generosity.
